How did I get interested in Massage Therapy?

When I was 12 years old I would massage my friends neck, shoulders, arms and hands. You could say I had a natural talent for massage therapy. Anytime someone had an ache or a pain, I would do my best to help them. In high school I was on the drill team. In my junior year, I ended up with a bulging disk in my lower spine as well as major inflammation around the area caused by practicing a certain move over and over again that was part of a dance routine. This became extremely painful so I went to urgent care to make sure it was nothing more serious than inflammation. They gave me pain medication and told me to just rest, it didn’t help much.

What REALLY helped me was massage therapy. In fact, I had a cousin who was in school at the time to become a massage therapist herself. She gave me a massage and that was MY first experience in receiving one. I LOVED IT! I knew right then and there I wanted to become a massage therapist! Right after graduating high school, I went to College of Health Care Professions for the Massage Therapy program and it has been my devotion since.

Outside the Office

Outside of work I still love to dance! I have a young daughter who keeps me busy and loves to dance along with me while we cook something delicious in the kitchen. We enjoy being outside as much as possible, going to parks and walking the dogs. Relaxation for me is a nice hot bath with Epsom salt, binge watching Netflix and reading to catch up on new knowledge in the massage world.
